It Seems They Were Defective (1977)

A certain race walks the earth on which we stand
Talking, breathing and observing the sights we see everyday
But they are different in that they are not the common man
And they try to lead the righteous individual astray

Some decide to follow and find it is difficult
They have no leaders nor do followers become their companions
Lost and with no mind nothing can he consult
Finding direction useless, rivers destine less and bottomless canyons

The individual finds his reactions meaningless and slow
His mind is no longer helpful in making a decision
Finding himself in a labyrinth with no where to go
Lost as if he were in a unfamiliar futuristic television

They are speaking, walking, running and talking like you
The imitations are a frightening mockery with an uncertain end
Leaving and escaping is definitely impossible to do
You seemed to be trapped in what you wished would happen

Run from the real world and you find an infinite road
It comes back to where it began and starts over again
Step into the gardens and observe the seeds you have sowed
They are growing into troubles others cannot possibly mend

That you must wait for all their differences to be forgotten
Like the apples eaten from the the trees they have fallen
Remember how many were discarded because they were rotten
And in the stagnant wind remains the scent of fragrant pollen

A reminder of the changing season passes through the soul
Foretelling of a reminiscence that must not remain
A barren landscape reflects a plague has taken its toll
The individual showing a prolonged amount of strain

The minds are beginning to weaken dramatically
No creator can resolve what nothing has created at first
People proclaim imminent disaster speaking emphatically
Regress into a picture less black bubble about to burst

A race without an empty mind cannot survive
A vast majority fades away into a blackness like night
Like a Hell with no fire and then the last five
Defective and useless in a world absent of light

Diminishing kingdoms with non existent life
It's becoming strangely evident that the race was not receptive
To that which involves constant pain and strife
Supportive evidence indicating that it seems they were defective
