Truth (1975)
Walking down a lonely street
With snow that melts away
The splashing of the slushy feet
That warms a Christmas day
But night does fall
And temperatures rise
Strangers chant a silent call
The roads are suddenly dry
The trees are dead
And lawns are brown
Silent children in a bed
In this quiet little town
Have you seen the strangers new
Whom like blaspheming all our rules
Our morals and ethics shattered through
As if windows with speculating fools
Mirrors not windows reflect us all
Do we see the truth that is revealed
The filth and lust of days hath fall
The wantonness that we ourselves feel
It's here my friend, my foe, my fool
They have brought it everywhere
It's in our church and in our school
The bodies of the rare
But we enjoy what one does see
And contemplate it thus
That when our children drink the tea
They sleep with secret lust
And when our children succumb to it
As friendly faces lead them
To rooms where lights are lit
And floors of softened gem
And nonresistance is helplessly given
Those poor impure souls are laid
Upon the floors of gem they're living
And so forever a price is paid
Teachers they'll call you
And for your rights stand by
But turn around and what to do
As payment raise them to the sky
See the evil and now it's too late
You are lost my friend and left to die
For it is useless to stand and wait
They bid you an ungrateful goodbye
But memories won't let you go
And certain pleasure holds you there
Something strange and evil to know
Remain forever in the domain of one pair
And remember to let that one pair
Control your spirit and mind
Give them the chance and if they dare
Surely the truth you will find
